Howdy folks! 😊
Here’s a quick hack for those days when you have prepared a meal but have neither the time nor the skills to prepare dessert.
Custard and Cake is always a win – Delicious and so easy to make 😋👌🏾
In a crunch, all the ingredients can actually be store-bought 😊. In the Dairy section of most large grocery stores, you can usually find already made pourable custard while the cake can be found in the bakery section. The strawberries – from fruit and Veg and you’re done. 💪🏾
If you have a bit more time, I recommend you prepare the custard fresh 👌🏾, and bake a plain vanilla cake. I will share a basic Vanilla cake recipe separately soon, if you need some pointers there too 😊. But with fresh baked…I promise, you won’t regret putting in the extra effort.😉
Here are the instructions of how you’d put this dessert together:

Directions
- Below is a shot of the main ingredients : Custard powder, fruit and plain cake. 😊
- Start by cutting the cake up into slices, shaping each piece until it is even in size. 😊
- Cook the custard according to package instructions to yield 4 cups. 😊
- Slice the strawberries thinly, or however desired 😊
- Arrange 2 cake pieces on a side plate, per person. 😊
- Pour about half a cup of the warm custard on top of the cake. 😊
- Bring the strawberries and arrange them attractively, as garnish. I left the leaves on to add a bit of ‘Green Interest.’ Enjoy! 😋👌🏾
