Beef and Broccoli

Howdy folks! 😊

Brocolli 🥦 is one of my all time favorite vegetables, and in combination with beef strips – this recipe is just divine 👌🏾. It is an Asian inspired dish that you’ll love, especially served with rice or noodles .😊

Not only is it delicious, but it is really packed with awesome nutrients – broccoli being a super-food and everything. You’ll be getting lots of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Minerals, Fibre and of course the protein from the beef. 💪🏾

I promise this will become a household staple. 😊

And so without further ado, here’s the recipe 👇🏾:

Ingredients

  • 500g Beef Steak, cut in strips

  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons Olive oil

  • 500g fresh Brocolli

  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger

  • 3 Cloves of Garlic

  • 1/4 Teaspoon Black pepper

  • 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch

  • 1/4 Teaspoon salt

  • 1/3 Cup Soy Sauce

  • 1 Tablespoon Brown a Sugar

  • 2 Tablespoons Sesame seeds for Garnish (optional)

Directions

  • Here’s a shot of some of the ingredients you’ll need 😊
  • And of course, the 🥩. Make sure your beef is fresh and at room temperature, when you’re preparing to cook it 😊
  • Start by cutting the beef into strips. And proceed to season with salt and pepper. If you’re using a cut of beef that’s a little tough, you can add some meat tenderiser and allow the beef to tenderise for a couple of hours at least. 😊
  • Heat up the oil in your pan and brown the beef strips in the oil, in batches. If you overcrowd the pan, the beef will start to steam, releasing moisture and it will not brown. Set the strips aside once done. 😊
  • Proceed to cut the broccoli into florets. Don’t make them too small though, because you don’t want them to over cook quickly and become mushy. 😊
  • In the same pan used to brown the beef, sauté the broccoli for 5 minutes and then add the red onion. Set that aside once done. 😊
  • For the delicious sauce, sauté the garlic and ginger together, and then add the soy sauce and sugar. Next combine the cornstarchwith 1/2 cup of water and add that to the mixture. Allow that to boil for 2-3 minutes so the sauce comes together.😋 If you prefer way more sauce, double the ingredients in this section. 😉
  • Return the broccoli and beef to the pan, stir and coat well.
  • After 3 minutes, the dish is ready! 😊
  • You can serve right away with rice….
  • Or Garnish with the sesame seeds….. Enjoy! 😋💕
