I love potatoes! 🙂
In any shape or form. Boiled, fried, baked, mashed and also…’smashed!’
‘Smashed potatoes’ are mashed potatoes with texture. So they are not very smooth or ‘puréed’ like some of you like to have them lol.
This is an easy recipe, and I just did a fresh take on what could easiy become a boring dish. You’ll need the following ingredients to make this work : Irish potatoes, Butter (or margerine in this case), Aromat (for taste), A can (or two) of peas, a store bought pack of Cheese sauce and 2 Tablespoons of mayonnaise.
And here’s what you do 😉
After the potatoes are peeled and cubed, boil them till tender.
While still hot, add 2 tablespoons of margerine (though for better taste use butter. That wasn’t available so I improvised 😉 )
Mix that up quickly, mashing the potatoes lightly and making sure the butter melts.
When sufficiently mixed, open the can of peas, drain out the liquid and add to the potatoes…then mix again
Let that stand, then start preparing your cheese sauce, per instructions on the packet.
Once the desired consistency is reached, pour the sauce into the potatoes and mix again. I also add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise at this point to give it a bit of a tangy taste – the kick! Ya – guys…those 2 ingredients just take this to the next level. Trust me. 🙂
Ok…where was I…oh yeah…Mix again lol. Season as desired (with Aromat or other seasoning).
And this is how the potatoes were served…With Pork stew (you need that gravy 😉 ) & veg + random grilled meats.
